The iPhone is highly reliable, but as with any electronic device, it can suffer from weird problems or an inexplicable lack of connectivity, and the easiest fix is often to restart it. If you’ve forgotten or never knew, here’s how to bring up the Slide to Power Off control. For most iPhones, press and hold the Side (or Top) button (also called the Sleep/Wake button). On the iPhone X, the trick is to press and hold both the Side button and either Volume button. Then drag the onscreen slider to pull the virtual plug. To power your iPhone back on, press the Side (or Top) button until the screen lights up and the Apple logo appears, indicating that the device is restarting. To complete the reboot, you will need to enter your passcode.
